2019 Heretik Innovators'
Summit Highlights

Claire Williams | August 5, 2019

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We’re excited to share some highlights from our 2019 Heretik Innovators’ Summit that we hosted at the end of July! While the event has evolved a little bit (last year was exclusively law firms) over the years, the goal stayed the same – bring together our most innovative partners for unfiltered conversations about our product, business strategies, and the industry as a whole.

This year, we hosted six of our strongest partners from all over the world to collaborate with us here at the office for two days of in-depth focus, conversations, feedback, and fun. “Awesome experience. I enjoyed the collaboration and sharing of ideas with others in the industry (even if they are competitors). It’s clear that Heretik has big plans for the future and I look forward to our firms partnering along the way,” said Matt Ronk, Director of Business Development at Cognicion.

It’s been extremely humbling and exciting to see how much we’ve grown the past few years year, as well as how much more in the corporate transaction space there is to do!

“CDS had an amazing time interacting with the Heretik team, our industry peers, and other users at the [Innovators’ Summit]. We were able to see new and innovative product offerings and learn how various users are leveraging the tool for problem-solving. It is fantastic that Heretik takes the time to both educate and empower users and also get their direct feedback on how to develop a better product. Heretik is one of our favorite technology partners, and we were honored to be part of the summit,” said Brad Janssen, Client Services Director at CDS.

Our partners’ enthusiasm and participation in the Summit made it invaluable for us, and we already can’t wait for next year. Check out some of our favorite photos and highlights below!

1. Heretik's Evolution

The opportunity to express to our clients where we’ve been and where we are going, especially with Heretik Forge, was extremely beneficial. “Heretik has become a powerful tool kit for our clients to build solutions that were once thought impossible and unprofitable,” said Charlie Connor, Heretik’s CEO & Co-Founder.

2. Market & Industry Trends

Everyone was excited to meet, interact, and learn from each other in a smaller, more collaborative environment than traditional industry events. While focusing on Heretik’s solution was important, we were also extremely excited about the opportunity to collaborate and brainstorm with our partners on business strategies as well. “We are hearing from our clients how much we’ve improved and how we are making an impact. There is a demand for our technology and product in the market,” said Michael Gildner, Heretik’s Director of Strategy & Business Development.

3. Roadmap Prioritization

The companies that were represented at the Innovators’ Summit have expanded this year to a combination of advisory, technology, law firms and business. All the different perspectives allowed for productive and actionable conversations. “In only 30 minutes, we came up with 20 items (problems, ideas, and requests), categorized them into buckets for product, sales, or project management, and then dove deeper into potential solutions for the top-voted items,” said Rishi Khullar, Heretik’s Director of Product Management.

4. Hands-on with Heretik Forge

We placed an emphasis on facilitating a hands-on, collaborative Heretik Forge experience to give our partners exclusive access to build their own machine learning model in Relativity. “Heretik Forge encourages a forward-thinking mindset. With every new contract review project under your belt, you are building a wealth of training data to utilize for building automation into workflows on future projects,” said Khullar.

5. Building Focused Demos

In order to help ensure our partners are successful with Heretik, we shared best (and worst) practices when building focused demos, and also emphasized our commitment to providing as many resources as possible. “We have numerous resources available in documentation and in our partner asset library to help with learning about the product and how to sell Heretik to your clients,” said Chris Tkach, Heretik’s Director of Customer Success.

6. Co-branded Marketing Opportunities

Ensuring that success also means that we work with our partners and clients to make sure that we tell their stories. “With a background in B2B and B2C advertising, we have the skills and equipment to do everything in house. We are happy to help you and your teams execute any type of content creation, such as video shoots, infographics, presentations, one-sheeters, gifs and animations, events, and more,” said Sarah Podella, Heretik’s Director of Marketing.

6. Heretik Happy Hour

In the evening, we hosted Chicago’s most innovative companies and start-ups to open the data dialogue outside of legal industry. “Loved getting to meet others in the Chicago tech community. It’s always inspiring to share stories, challenges, and learn how other industries are managing and working with their data,” said Caroline Coolidge Farmer’s Fridge Senior Manager, Operations Systems.

Once again, an enormous thank you to all of our partners for taking the time to join us. Your enthusiasm and excitement to collaborate with us was invaluable and we already can’t wait for next year!
