In addition to faster load times in the Heretik Viewer, we’re doubling down on minimizing unnecessary clicks and previously clunky workflows so customers can get to the heart of review more quickly and work smarter within their documents.

With 2021 right around the corner, companies are thinking ahead to next year. With a new year comes new products, features, and updates. When you think about the evolution of a technology product, speed is one of the first things that may come to mind. How can we design and engineer a product to get out of the way and help people get the results they want faster?
This not only encompasses the actual performance, load times, and general snappiness of the experience, but anything that reduces clicks, removes unnecessary workflow steps, or bumps accuracy to reduce QC workload. These are all ways to improve “speed” that get us excited here at Heretik. We’ve been showing customers previews of our upcoming Nightingale release launching in early 2021, and the most common response has been, “that will save me a lot of time.”
The Nightingale release is extremely exciting because it’s packed with time-saving features and updates that create a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. In addition to faster load times in the Heretik Viewer, we’re doubling down on minimizing unnecessary clicks and previously clunky workflows so customers can get to the heart of review more quickly and work smarter within their documents.
Below is a sneak peek at some (but not all) Nightingale features that will make contract review faster in 2021:
Definition Extraction
When reviewing a contract from any point of view, understanding the terms frequently used throughout the document can be extremely important. Our new out-of-the-box ‘Definition Extraction’ model will soon auto-extract every definition in your contract and populate it to the new Heretik Definition object. This will save reviewers time in no longer having to scroll all around a contract in order to understand how critical terms are defined.
Preview and Run Segmentation on the Fly
You’ll soon be able to preview how a regular expression will segment a document in our new ‘Preview’ interface. If you’re happy with the results, you can immediately segment the document on the fly right from within the Heretik Viewer. This saves project managers a lot of time in segmenting documents because they no longer need to create models/profiles/analysis sets to run analysis, assess results, and tweak regex. They can now do this in a few clicks from within the Heretik Viewer and demo in real-time how a regular expression will do, segmentation-wise.
Simplified Regular Expression Creation
Regular expressions are tremendously powerful within Heretik. We’ve built off the previous regular expression building blocks in our Mendel release by creating several new out-of-the-box blocks that are foundational pieces to building custom regular expressions. We also support referencing persistent highlight sets as blocks so you can simply create a list of phrase variations and reference that list from the Heretik Viewer search bar.
Simplified Section Creation in the Heretik Viewer
You’ll soon be able to create new sections by simply selecting text within the main review interface of the Heretik Viewer. Heretik will auto-populate the section heading and type, as well as create a new Relativity document for that section. It will also add it to the Sections Pane for quick navigation. This will greatly increase the speed at which teams can segment documents because they can:

And this just a small snippet of what is coming to Heretik early next year! As we wrap up 2020 and get ready to take on 2021, our focus remains creating a product that continues to help our users save time structuring contract data and making sense of it all. Make sure to keep a look out for when we release Nightingale, coming in early 2021.
